God gives us many good things we don’t deserve and could never earn, like grace and forgiveness. He gave the ultimate gift, His son, for our sins. When you hear us talk about irrational generosity, that’s what we mean. God created us with a generous spirit. Giving generously is a matter of gratitude, identity, and impact.

Why Give?
First, it is a matter of gratitude. Giving generously is a way to thank God for all the blessings we have received. Gratitude for our lives, our loved ones around us, our time, talent, and treasure. Thankfulness for the forgiveness of our sins and the promise of our resurrection to eternal life. We express our gratitude by loving God and neighbor, following Christ’s teachings, and generously sharing from what God has given us.
Second, giving is a matter of our identity. We are created in the image of God who is exceedingly good and generous. As we give generously, we fulfill the deep truth of our identity and purpose as children of God. Because giving is part of what we were created to do, being a generous giver is the way to live a full and meaningful life.
Third, it is a matter of impact. To help make an impact in our world, Jesus told us to make disciples, feed the hungry, clothe the naked all to transform both people and the world. Our generous giving to the HUB makes a difference in your community and the world.
The Cheerful Giver
“The point is this: whoever sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and whoever sows bountifully a will also reap bountifully. Each one must give as he has decided in his heart, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver. And God is able to make all grace abound to you, so that having all sufficiency in all things at all times, you may abound in every good work. As it is written,
“He has distributed freely, he has given to the poor;
his righteousness endures forever.”
He who supplies seed to the sower and bread for food will supply and multiply your seed for sowing and increase the harvest of your righteousness. You will be enriched in every way to be generous in every way, which through us will produce thanksgiving to God.” -2 Corinthians 9:6-11
Being a Christian is more than just an instantaneous conversion – it is a daily process whereby you grow to be more and more like Christ.
Darkness cannot drive out darkness; only light can do that. Hate cannot drive out hate; only love can do that.
God cannot give us a happiness and peace apart from Himself, because it is not there. There is no such thing.
